Social Equity & Inclusion at RISD supports various institutional initiatives aimed at creating a more racially just RISD that is antiracist in principle and practice throughout the institution and serves as a central hub for cross-institutional collaboration for faculty-centered initiatives. The SEI Administrator & Project Specialist provides a wide variety of administrative support to the Vice President for Social Equity & Inclusion, as well as gives support to the SEI Faculty Steering committee, SEI Faculty Research Fellows, and manages the SEI funds for research, programming, conferences, and Decolonial Teaching in Action Program. This position also manages the center's student work study positions and helps execute SEI's public programs, including the annual MLK Speaker Series, as well as specialized programs like the First Generation Pre-Orientation Program (FGC PoP).
Job Highlights
Oversaw the $390K departmental budget and helped prepare the annual budget for the whole division
Managed and coordinated over twenty events each academic year, including events open to the general public, internal employee-centered celebrations, academic seminars and symposiums, and multi-day campus visits for guest speakers and artists/creators
Onboarded and managed a team of 10-18 work study students each year, including approving their hours, scheduling check-ins with their supervisors, and hosting end of semester get-togethers
Managed the scheduling, agendas, and meeting space bookings for at least five SEI-led or co-led committees
Published eight primarily bi-monthly newsletters detailing SEI announcements, projects, events, and opportunities
Managed the department's finances and personnel on WorkDay, all official campus announcements via Mailchimp, the SEI website hosted on Drupal, and funding through InfoReady
Responsible for reporting to the NYS Department of State how the NYS Community Action network utilized CARES funding throughout the entire state, consisting of a two part written report titled, Rising to the COVID-19 Challenge: Responses from NYS Community Action Agencies. The first part of the report details the use of funding which supported building capacity within the agencies in order to cope with changing operation standards in response to COVID health policies (pages 1-20). The second part of the report goes over all the service delivery changes made to address the novel challenges COVID presented, as well as issues exacerbated by economic shocks that occurred in many communities. Also responsible for organizing and hosting 10-12 virtual webinars addressing COVID health and mental healthcare. Additionally, this position facilitated NYSCAA's Social Justice Committee, a group of 25 representatives from 15 different agencies, working towards implementing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion policies with the goal of directly addressing issues of racial justice, diverse representation, and expanding accessibility.

The Center for Law and Justice serves low-income and disadvantaged communities in the Capital Region through social services, advancing education around legal and political systems, and advocating for equal justice. Services included free housing or civil law consultations, facilitating the successful transition of formerly incarcerated individuals back into their community. CFLJ pioneered the Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion (LEAD) program, which used community-based, harm reduction interventions to divert individuals involved in the criminal justice system because of addiction, mental illness, and poverty. The primary role of the Executive Administrator was to formalize and streamline existing systems to build the center’s capacity and sustainability for future projects
Job Highlights
Created a system that tracked and recorded all communications responding to community issues associated with criminal justice reform or social justice for the purposes of following up with callers and recording data for the center's annual report, grant reporting, and reports prepared for the board of directors
Oversaw two part-time staff members, one intern, and five volunteers
Wrote an office manual for introducing new staff, volunteers, and interns
Built a semester and summer based internship program in coordination with SUNY Albany that enriched student development and center programs
Reestablished The South End Scene independent neighborhood newspaper in collaboration with the Albany Public Library, Howe Branch and Albany chapter of the NAACP
Established and formalized social media management protocols, including a posting style guide
Organized and published all press media kits for the center's activities
Created over 20 graphics for new advertising campaigns
Switched the center’s business accounts to non-profit status to increase savings and joined PayPal's Giving Fund, which increased fundraising earnings

Established an annual fundraiser via membership drive
Co-developed new client services policies, including health services and patient advocacy in partnership with Albany Medical School
Did logistics for over 10 community events, including trainings, film screenings, block parties, and speaker panels
Worked with the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy faculty in the ongoing development of the Master in International Affairs Program, including creating and fostering an MIA alumni network offering internship and career mentorship, developing the MIA Student Association as a formally recognized student organization, and helping market the program during its admissions campaign by filming, editing, and producing a total of 18 videos highlighting MIA faculty and student engagement.
Student assistant for Rockefeller College’s Master of Public Affairs program to edit and produce video lectures for their newly offered hybrid online courses. Worked to blend recordings of traditional lectures with vector drawing animations and Camtasia desktop recordings to create visually interesting and informative videos for introductory statistics and economics courses hosted on Vimeo. Produced content for three professors offering two hybrid online courses, totalling 38 videos. When the videos were introduced, they were used to instruct 33 graduate students and was built out to include three more courses with an anticipated student participation upwards of 150 students in the following academic year.
Planned and executed cultural affairs programming, including weekly presentations to the local Chinese audience such as Hispanic Heritage Month, which drew in a crowd of nearly 300 participants. Served as the principal speaker for 4 presentations with highest engagement at 75 attendees. Created original content for the IO’s team, including 25 short book recommendations and 5 travel articles essential to their social media campaign and was a part of the press team that covered Ambassador Terry Branstad’s first visit to Guangzhou. Also assisted with fingerprinting over 6,000 Nonimmigrant Visa applicants in support of the Consular section.
Produced a variety of articles for online magazines and websites, reaching an audience of 15,000 readers on (The) Absolute Magazine and 30 million daily visitors via Publisor Publishing Network through book recommendations, as well as list-style articles ranging from entertainment and health to everyday science and new food scenes. Three out of 79 book reviews on (The) Absolute Mag have been on the list of top ten most viewed articles for the month they were published and are archived via my author tag.

Managed ten specially selected research associates interested in aerospace, aeronautics, astronautics, engineering and physics with an emphasis on leadership as an operations and project manager for Ames Research Center’s first Aeronautics Academy. Scheduled meetings and events; oversaw the team’s research presentations that were debuted at NASA HQ in Washington DC and publishing their research posters; acted as a liaison between their mentors and lab supervisors; facilitated team building; coordinated budgets and payments; and organized travel to Virginia and a trip to aerospace companies in SoCal.
Through NASA’s AERO Institute, I assisted educational outreach programs that fostered Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education and interest through project development and execution, including attending public events that catered to a total of 1000 local students and their families and giving lecture series on the science behind NASA technology, such as rocketry and robotics, which reached students from all over California. I also supported office procedures and organization, such as telephone and front office reception; filing and data entry; drafting spreadsheets and reports; meeting and event planning; and records and database management.
